Gift Guide for the Mom-to-Be

Hey hippies!

I wanted to make a small guide of some things that I’ve loved throughout my pregnancy that I thought would make perfect gifts for the holidays. Since I will also be rockin’ a bump during the holidays, here a few gift ideas that I really love and can hopefully help you shop for a fellow momma-to-be!

Side note: Eric & I put ourselves on a strict budget this year. We’ve decided to spend a small dollar amount on gifts to open Christmas morning and choose 3 of each other’s favorite snacks to put in our stockings. Here’s a mix of gifts that range anywhere from under $20 to $100+.

A Rose Quartz Face Roller – I haven’t officially tried one yet, but it’s definitely on my wish list! It’s not only great for relaxing the face muscles (super important to try to do while in labor also) but it also helps with anti-aging. I feel like everyone could use one of these, and based off of the reviews I’ve read I’m so excited to try one out sometime soon! If not for the holidays then I will definitely be getting one before I give birth. Will I actually use it during labor? Who knows, but at least I will have the option there. I can definitely see myself using it a TON postpartum.

A gift certificate for a prenatal massage or mani/pedi – Not going to lie, I think this makes a great gift to any person who enjoys a good pampering. I am definitely one of those people who wouldn’t normally spend money on something like this, so for the future momma-to-be in your life, this could really help take the edge off. I did treat myself to a mani/pedi a few months back during the early stages of my 2nd trimester and boy was it blissful! Plus, a prenatal massage is great for soreness, round ligament pains, and helps promote a stress-free mindset. I think everyone could use a little of that once in a while!

Tough as a Mother T-shirt – Honestly, I think a clothing type gift with an awesome, empowering saying would be great for any expecting mom to rock both during pregnancy and after! I LOVE this shirt by a company called The Bee & The Fox. They make super cute clothes for both mommas & papas. I recently purchased this headband to hold my hair back while I’m in labor. It’s a great way to help mom with positive affirmations!

Gift Card to a baby boutique store – Let’s be realistic, expecting parents are trying to save as much money as they can. I also know that some people would look at this gift recommendation and be like “but that’s not for mom!” While that may be technically true, momma will not hate a gift card to a fancy kid clothing store. In fact, it’ll probably boost her spirits and allow her to feel like she can pamper her baby by buying something special from her. You know the kind of (typically online) stores I’m talking about, those organic, high quality clothing baby product companies like Spearmint LOVE. Even though the gift isn’t directly for mom, she will love it so much for two reasons: 1. she doesn’t have to feel guilty about buying that super cute romper or blacket that’s way more money than she’d like to spend and would never actual buy herself. 2. Cute, quality clothes and baby accessories bring mom a ton of joy and make her feel as though she’s doing something special for baby. Seems like a win-win to me! Or maybe I’m just a crazy pregnant person that already wants to spoil my baby rotten. 😉

A gift card to her favorite makeup store or beauty brand – I just got done telling Eric how my Kat Van D Liquid Eyeliner is running out and how I was nearly having a panic attack while imaging not having it (thank you pregnancy hormones!). I’ve found that the more pregnant I get, the more I feel compelled to put on makeup… is that weird? Maybe it’s my way of pampering myself. Never the less, the feelings are there and I’ve been working through my makeup collection like nobody’s business. I’ve used this same eyeliner brand for years (both cruelty-free & vegan!) and it’s about time for a new one. It’s a super affordable gift to be able to give a momma-to-be if you know 1. her favorite beauty brand 2. the store she likes to find her beauty products in or 3. a new product you think she’d like! I know several all-natural, cruelty-free and vegan brands that sell super cute bundles. One of my favorites is by a company called Follain. There’s also brands like LUSH Cosmetics that make the cutest gift sets you’ll ever see. There’s definitely a pampering theme to this list if you haven’t noticed already!

A Vitamix Blender – Normally I wouldn’t recommend an appliance as a gift, but when a baby is a’comin your holiday wish list ends up blending with your registry list… or your “would love to register for” list. Obviously this is a way higher priced item, but if you wanted to gift mom something big (aka you have a bigger budget for a gift) and have it be a super amazing surprise, you can’t go wrong with this. Bonus gift: they even sell baby food containers so mom & dad can make their own baby food!

A Meal Subscription Box –  When baby comes (and even before baby comes) cooking delicious dinners are far from momma’s priority list… or maybe that’s just me? I’ve had a pretty rough time with thinking of meals to eat, let alone cooking them. This would be a great gift for new parents in general, but it’ll really help momma out when times get tough. This is a bit more of a pricy gift but it will go a long way, especially when sleep in on the back burner and leaving the house seems far from realistic. Meal subscriptions such as Purple Carrot, Green Chef, & Hello Fresh are great for families with dietary restrictions.

Non-Slip Fuzzy Socks – No joke, I LIVE in socks like these! The first thing I do when I get home is change out of my shoes and put on cozy socks. It’s a great cold weather gift for anyone really, but they are especially great for packing in a hospital/birth bag. They are also super perfect for when you don’t feel like wearing pants because all your maternity leggings are dirty and you just don’t feel like squeezing your bump into those pre-baby bod sweats. I tend to go with a sweater or sweatshirt and throw a pair of these babies on and I’m good to go! My toes stay nice and warm. *If you want to give a pair of these as a gift, make sure they are non-slip on the bottoms, you don’t want momma to possibly slip and hurt herself and the baby.

Baby’s Heartbeat Necklace – Now you may have to coordinate with the Dad or her partner on this one, but it’s definitely one of the most unique and special gifts someone could give an expecting mother. For her shower, she’s depending on receiving necessity items for life with a new baby, so surprising her with this keepsake won’t fail to melt her heart. Her partner should have access to an ultrasound – I have a photo of our baby’s heartbeat from our 24 week appt! If you can’t access a heartbeat ultrasound photo, a necklace with the baby’s name on it or a necklace with a gemstone from the baby’s expected birth month would also be amazing.

Bump’s 1st Christmas Ornament – Last but not least (and super affordable!) a sweet little ornament to commemorate this truly magical season of life. I know many people that love keepsake ornaments as much as I do! It’s a great way to help mom keep memories and cherish the moment of being pregnant during the holidays forever.

Well there ya have it! I hope this list helps helps you find the perfect gift for your momma-to-be. I can’t wait to spoil my friends and family members if they choose to expand their families one day! Let me know in the comments some of your other favorite gifts that you’ve received while pregnant, have given to a pregnant person, or that you’ve loved postpartum.
